A few weeks ago we were at a family reunion, after
visiting and catching up with loved ones it was time to go. We climbed
into the truck to go, the keys were put into the ignition and we were set.
When the keys were turned nothing happened. We had been having a problem
with it starting before and so when this happened we were not to
surprised, but I were frustrated because I had made plans to take Dan out
for his birthday and if we were going to make it still happen we needed to
get going. We sat there for a few minutes trying a few times to start it
without successes.
After the fourth attempt Hannali said why don't we say a prayer? I told her that that was a great idea and so she said a prayer asking that the truck would start. While she was praying I was praying too that her prayer would be answered so that her fragile and growing faith would be straightened. I was also preparing in my head on how to answer her if the Lord decided to have us wait... its harder to help 6 1/2 year olds understand that sometimes he doesn't answer right away, sometimes its no and sometimes its not right now. And the hardest of all, sometimes he doesn't answer us because he wants us to figure things out for ourselves because he knows that we can, and need to make these decisions for our own growth. Luckily he never leaves us alone!! Anyway after Hannali's prayer we turned the keys and the truck started and we were all so happy, Hannali grinned all the way home!
I was especially humbled that our Father in Heaven would take time to answer the prayer of a little girl, a little girl that someday will grow older and become someone with a testimony of Gods great love for her and all of his children!
How blessed we are for his constant love and care for us ALL!

Here's another Cherie Call song I love!

So sweet. I love those tender mercies. Let's be sure and have Todd help you fix that when we come. I've seen him fix our truck for the same problem, and it's an easy inexpensive fix. :)
I think the best part for me was as soon as we said amen, she said, "Try it right now" Sometimes we pray and still do nothing.
She beamed all the way home. To know that God is mindful of us. I'm so thankful for experiences that can never be taken away.
